Best self-custody crypto cards
Cards that spend straight from a wallet you control. The issuer can freeze the card but cannot move your funds.
What you need to know
A self-custody card spends from a wallet you control, usually a smart-contract wallet on an EVM chain. The issuer settles each payment from that wallet at the moment you pay. Your funds are not held in an exchange account.
This removes the biggest risk of custodial cards: the platform failing or freezing withdrawals. It adds new ones. You are responsible for your keys and recovery, and on-chain fees or delays can affect top-ups.
Most self-custody cards are issued in the EU/EEA and the UK. Availability elsewhere is limited, so check the country line on each card.

How we picked
We kept cards where spending comes from a wallet the user controls, then ranked them with the same ten-metric score as every page.
General comparison, not financial, tax or legal advice. Rules change — check with a local adviser.
Frequently asked
What does self-custody mean for a card?
The card draws on a wallet you control. The issuer cannot move your funds, only block the card.
Are self-custody cards safer?
They remove platform risk but add key-management risk. Losing access to your wallet means losing access to your funds.
Can I use them outside the EU?
Some are EU/EEA and UK only. Check the availability line on each card.
